Quarantine Services offers the highest standards of accredited quarantine services throughout Tasmania.
The division operates the State’s only purpose-built fumigation chambers capable of treating all agricultural products, including timber, cut flowers, fruit and vegetables and root stock.
The fumigation treatment complies with some of the highest standards and protocols required by quarantine and agricultural authorities around the world.
The facility in Hobart is regularly visited by officers from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture to ensure standards are maintained.

Quarantine Services also manages a container washdown facility at most ports. This minimises the risk of contamination from containers arriving in Tasmania.
The facilities allow for the washing of all containers, regardless of size, and easy and accessible quarantine inspection after washing.
Importantly, all wash down waste is collected in specially designed holding tanks. The waste is treated and disposed of in accordance with quarantine regulations.The washdown bay was developed in consultation with the AQIS and the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment.
