Berthing licence

TasPorts provides a range of berthing facilities for fishing vessels across Tasmania.

A berthing licence is an annual licence that allows you to moor your vessel at our port facilities.

To be eligible you must be the registered owner of the vessel, and your vessel's registration must be current.

Statewide home port fishing vessels

TasPorts provides berthing facilities to fishing vessels. The schedule of charges noted below are inclusive of 240v power* and potable water where accessible.

What you need

If it is your intention to use TasPorts' berthing facilities, you will need to provide the following documentation:

  • your vessel's registration number
  • copies of the following for upload
    • current survey certificate
    • vessel insurance details

Access to berthing areas may be restricted if the above information is not provided.

TasPorts berthing licences are active for a one year term.

Item 5 - Licence fee

Fees

Licence fees will be charged in accordance with the port fishing vessel fees shown above.

Review date

Licence fees are reviewed annually on 01 July.

Item 6 - Paying for a licence fee

The Licence Fee is payable in advance by BSB or by direct deposit into TasPort's nominated bank account, or as directed by TasPorts in writing.

Item 7 - Outgoings, including services

The Licencee will be responsible for the cost of Outgoings including Services as described in the Licence, if applicable.

Item 8 - Minimum insurance requirements

Please note below the minimum insurance requirements for all berthing licence requests:

Policy of public risk insurance

$20,000,000.00 per event (or such higher amount as TasPorts may reasonably require from time to time).

Policy of protection and indemnity

$20,000,000.00 per event (or such higher amount as TasPorts may reasonably require from time to time).

Workers compensation / Seafarers compensation

A workers compensation policy if crew are employed; or if the vessel is prescribed under the Seafarers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act then a Seafarers Compensation Insurance Policy (if applicable).

Other insurance required

Comprehensive vessel insurance.
