TasPorts releases FY2026 Q3 trade report

Solid performance despite external factors

TasPorts’ year-to-date (YTD) and third quarter trade figures remain consistent and in-line with business expectations, bucking the national trend of declining consumer and business sentiment being driven by external economic and supply chain pressures.

We saw 1,895 vessel visits across all ports YTD (703 for the quarter), and total freight tonnage was up 2 per cent YTD at 10.89 million tonnes. Container volumes also remained consistent, with 473,546 TEU handled YTD, a 3.5 per cent lift.

For the March quarter, fertiliser and forestry sectors were strong, easing the effects of a continued drop in activity from our large-scale industrial customers. We also welcomed 55 cruise ship visits across the state during the period, including six maiden visits (vessels calling to Tasmania for the first time).
