The Hazell Brady Joint Venture team delivering our marine & dredge works contract at Devonport East continue to stride towards the finish line. The second of four wharf deck topping slabs were cast this morning and the last of the wharf precast elements are being placed.

Using a marine grade concrete for the construction of the 137m new wharf frontage for the Spirit of Tasmania at Terminal 3, the concrete pours continue through to the end of May when the final deck pour will take place.

All of the precast elements are now complete and nearing final installation for the new wharf frontage:

  • 116 deck planks;
  • 28 headstocks;
  • 24 edge beams;
  • 7 fender blocks; and
  • 5 plinths for the Automated Mooring Units.

The fabrication of the support steel work for the sheet pile wall has also been completed. The sheet pile wall is being installed at the existing Berth 3E to act as scour protection from the ships’ thrusters.
