QuayLink responsibilities
QuayLink is TasPorts’ largest port upgrade project under the Port Master Plan and TasPorts’ largest infrastructure project in a generation. It is designed to modernise and future-proof the Port of Devonport to support the critical role it plays in providing a linkage between Tasmania and mainland Australia.

Technical Advisory Consultative Committee to form for dredging works
Early explorers and settlers to Tasmania tended to bypass the Mersey River, as it was blocked by a sandbar and the banks were heavily timbered. The first dredging took place in 1890 and has continued through the life of the port.

Preplanning surveys underway
TasPorts have been undertaking a number of preplanning surveys including geotechnical, survey and environmental baseline surveys. These are just the start of investigations that will inform the design and construction of the works.

Berth 2E new works
New works on Berth 2E, where the SeaRoad Mersey 2 and MV Liekut berths, has included fendering and wharf upgrades. The initial work had to be undertaken in time for the arrival of the MV Liekut with some critical works restricted to the small window of opportunity between sailings at night. While the project was a logistical challenge for engineers and contractors, it was accomplished within the tight timeframe due to a high level of collaboration between all parties.
